Hereditary and Genetics.

We learnt:

1. Genetics is instructions.
2. traits are hereditary.
3. DNA (drawn).
4. Hereditary is when.
5. All living things.
6. Medical conditions some can be passed down.

DNA: It looks like mini q-tips to make a picture of the DNA swirl it was a bit confusing.

Genetics is the study of these instructions which we call genes. They’re passed down from our parents to us, and they determine a lot of things about us. It’s like passing down traits from your family members.

Our challenge was to learn about genetics. We watched videos and created aliens by flipping coins (head or tails) to see which trait they would inherit.

I’m most proud of how Margaret and I created the aliens they loomed pretty unique and inspiring.

My sentences say:

This term, we went on a day trip to Rapaki Marae. When we arrived, we were welcomed onto the marae with a traditional pōwhiri. We sang E te tau to the mana whenua of the marae.

During the trip, I learnt that seaglass is a thing. My favourite part about the marae visit was going to the beach because I liked patting the crabs. The most challenging part of the day was finding sea glass because the sea glass was hiding under rocks. Overall, my experience was really fun.

Resilience: I showed resilience when I was finding sea glass.

Integrity: I showed integrity by putting the crabs back in their homes after I patted them.

Success: I felt successful when I finally found sea glass.

Empathy: I showed empathy by being respectful to the crabs.

In Maths, we have been learning how to slide, flip and turns”+!

In literacy we have been learning about the moon phases/Maramataka.🌕

I was buddies with Emilie!👍

We made a picture of the moon phases and I made a sun also a lot of other different planets.🌸

I really enjoyed making the picture we made it with black paper and coloured pastel.🖍

We have been learning in action station how to make friendship bracelets. Margaret and I we made our first one. they were called:

1. Spiral ladder🪜🎀

2.  line pattern⎹🌈

3. Chevron pattern🖤

Then Margaret and I were doing this think that if we didn’t finish the bracelets there then we will cut the access of it and then make key chains or bracelets.🟢 then after we cut them we had a lot of string.🎀 so then me and my friends could choose what colours they wanted.🌟 First one was Margaret and she choose dark purple, light purple, megenta, and gray.

On the 26\6 we had a visit from Harry and Sam from the Space Dome Adventure.🌷

The Space Dome Adventure was REALLY fun I really enjoyed it.😄

We had like basically groups when we were at the Hall for the Space Dome Adventure because they split it in half.☄

My teachers put the whole class into Star Dome groups I was originally in Rachel’s group but since I was the only year four in my group Rachel swapped me into Erica’s group because non of my friends were in the same group except Charli and Emile.🌻

We also went to the chairs inside of the hall and we looked at pictures of Mars the colours were Orangery brown.🟠🟤

We went inside of  like a bouncy house but your not a load to bound on the edges because Harry said it cost a lot and if we broke it we would have to pay for it it cost 5000 dollars.🏚

it looked kind’of like a fish but with no fins a face and a head.🐟

The planet that was the biggest was called Jupiter.🔵

All of the planets are called Jupiter Neptune Uranus Mars Saturn.
